Undercovers, Overcovers and Stickies are Rycote's elegant solution to mounting personal microphones both under and over clothing. They are a universal product, suitable for most modern sub-miniature microphones, and offer a different method of mounting from the traditional micro spring clamp.

These products allow microphones to be 'stuck' in precisely the right position for optimum pick-up. A pre-cut pad is peeled off the backing paper, positioned, then the microphone is pressed onto the pad. For hidden use, an Undercover soft fabric pad is added over the capsule to let clothing glide over and minimise rustling. Out in the open, Undercovers will give some wind-noise reduction or a fur Overcover can be used to deal with stronger gusts. On walls, tables, musical instruments and car dashboards, the plain Stickie can be used on its own.

The adhesives used are safe on skin and won't mark clothing, and they don't turn to a rubbery goo that seals the grids of delicate microphones either. The pads are specially made so that they don't squeak or creak (a drawback of off-the-shelf foam pads) and, as disposable items, there are no hygiene queries. With no pins and clips involved, nobody will get heated about pulled threads on designer T-shirts and damage to expensive suits. The pads will hold almost any miniature microphone securely, both the flat and cylindrical body types, and are very discreet with a low and smooth profile under clothing.

Stickies

These consist of double-sided adhesive pads, sourced from the medical industry, which are suitable for use on both fabrics and skin. The pads are simply peeled from a sheet and pressed onto the skin or clothing, and the top liner removed.

The microphone is then pressed onto the adhesive pad, and is held in place by the adhesive coating. The two adhesive surfaces of the pads sandwich a soft fabric, this prevents the mount from creaking when the microphone is in position.

Stickies Advanced

Designed for the same purpose as the above Stickies, Stickies Advanced are hypoallergenic pads that are available in three designs - 'Round', a 23mm adhesive pad designed for use with DPA concealers; 'O's, a 23mm design that allow wind protection with DPA concealers; and 'Squared', a 20mm square adhesive pad designed for use with the Sanken RM-11. As well as being 'stickier' than the original series, Stickies Advanced are supplied loose with easy peel tabs for ease of use and transport.

Undercovers

These are used when a microphone has to be mounted on or underneath clothing. They use the same adhesive pads as 'Stickies', plus soft fabric disposable discs to protect the microphone from rustle.

Overcovers

These are designed for use in situations where the microphone is exposed to heavier wind noise. The Overcovers work in exactly the same way as the Undercovers, but with a small furry disc as the windshield. Overcovers are available in black, grey or white versions.

Overcovers Advanced

Overcovers Advanced are designed for use with Stickies Advanced to provide wind-noise protection for lavalier microphones. The larger 26mm diameter ensures a match to DPA Concealers. Overcovers Advanced are offered in four colour choices, black, grey, white, and beige. The 23mm round Stickies Advanced are included in Overcovers Advanced combination packs.
